This week we wrote a rhetorical precis based on our reading of a classic American speech to show that we can identify an author's purpose and we can discuss the rhetorical choices an author makes based on their audience.
This week and next week we will look at the ways authors use evidence to back up their claims and the ways that authors chooses evidence based on their audience. We will continue to read samples of arguments from classic and contemporary American texts as we build towards our first Argument essay next week. This week we introduced rhetorical strategies that authors use to persuade their audiences. We also discussed different tropes and schemes that authors use to create meaning in their writing.
